Our Vision and Strategy

"How is God calling us to be the Church to the people living in our diocese in the next decade?"

Our first diocesan Mission Action Plan, launched in 2016, grew from a series of 'Follow' events and aimed to unite the diocese in God’s mission. It focused on inspiring all generations to follow Jesus Christ, transforming lives and communities to grow God’s kingdom in Hereford Diocese. Strategic investment supported intergenerational mission in five market towns, with deaneries encouraged to create their own mission action plans.

Our Strategy: 2022 - 2030

The strategy for 2022 - 2030 holds firm to our vision which is “to proclaim Christ and grow disciples”, underpinned by our three behaviour values: Prayerful, Christlike and Engaged.

Engaged

Our values are at the heart of everything we do as we seek to proclaim Christ and grow disciples. This strategy is mostly about creating a framework to enable the local church to flourish but recognises that there are some things that will need to be stimulated centrally due to a lack of existing capacity or resources.

A vision for our diocese explained by Bishop Richard in this video lays out the challenge ahead.
