Get to know... Stephen Hollinghurst

.

Today in our #2minInterview we meet Stephen Hollinghurst.

The Revd Steve Hollinghurst is our new mission enabler for the environment, he joined the team in May. He is a key part of supporting our mission and ministry, working alongside some highly experienced colleagues. His role involves working with churches, schools and our central team to help us achieve our ambition of becoming Carbon Net Zero by 2030.

We recently caught up with him for a chat:

I: Hello, Steve. Thanks for taking part in our 2-min interview series.  You know how this works, so we'll go straight in with the first question  - What is your favourite food?

SH: I love cooking and food, so where do I start? It could be Indian, Mexican, or Italian, but one of my favourites is the Italian dish Chicken Saltimbocca where chicken is cooked wrapped in Palma Ham with a sage and Masala sauce. Saltimbocca means ‘jumps in the mouth’ because it is so tasty.

I: It sounds good. Question two - If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

SH: I am really interested in ancient civilizations. I like visiting places with ancient sites. There are some I haven’t done, including Angkor Wat in Cambodia. It’s an ancient Buddhist temple in the jungle, so not the easiest place to get to. So, if I get a ‘go anywhere’ offer that’s where I’d go. Doubt it would be somewhere for a long holiday, though!

I: Question three is our last one and the same one we ask everyone - What do you enjoy about working at Hereford Diocese?

SH: I’m half-time and home-based so my experience is a bit different. But people are very friendly and really helpful, which is good when you are new and finding your way around.
