Job Details:

Hereford, Worcester and Gloucester Dioceses are working towards reaching Net Zero Carbon by 2030 and to incorporate sustainable working practices across all its operations. This includes churches, clergy housing, schools, diocesan offices, churchyards and curtilage land and investment land and housing.

A key aim will be to reduce the emissions from energy consumption year-on-year across the Dioceses, working with the national Church of England Routemap to net zero as a key guiding document.

The post holder will be leading, alongside a committed team, in the development of the Net Zero Carbon policy, strategy and an Action Plan and will be responsible for the monitoring and reporting of progress towards the implementation of the Diocesan Net Zero Carbon Action Plan.

As schools lead the post holder will need to:-

•           Work closely with the schools and Education team in all three Dioceses.

•           Offer advice on projects designed to support schools in relation to net zero carbon, such as energy audits, including support on options, permissions, and funding.

•           Support Mantis Energy and Inspired Efficiency on securing funding via national government decarbonisation funding and any other suitable sources.

•           Work closely with external DBE Service providers.

•           Work alongside the property team to support them with Net zero work.

•           Work with Mission Enabler – Environmental on delivering of resources developed by national team.

 

We also intend that any particular expertise that a postholder brings, will be shared more informally across the region.  We recognise the significance of securing funding to enabling the work to go ahead so are seeking postholders who either have considerable experience in this area or transferrable skills and a willingness to learn this aspect of the work.

 

The post is 0.8 FTE with a working pattern to be agreed with the successful candidate.

28 Hours per week Monday to Friday
with the need to be able to attend evening and weekend meetings occasionally.

Fixed term Contract until 31st August 2026

£32,244 (£40,305 FTE)
