In Memoriam: Her Royal Highness Katharine, Duchess of Kent

It is with great sadness that we have received the news today of the death of Her Late Royal Highness Katharine, Duchess of Kent at the age of 92.

The Late Duchess lived a life that had at its heart an extraordinary yet quiet dedication and service. She was a committed public servant, teacher, and musician – humbly serving young people and their families away from the spotlight. Through her passion for music and her skill at teaching she encouraged many young musicians whose paths are changed by her inspiration.

In the Diocese of Hereford we are grateful for her example of humility, servant-heartedness and kindness, shown faithfully over many years of loyal public service. I send my deepest condolences to His Royal Highness, Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent and his family.

I invite you all to join with me in holding the Duke, his family, friends and all the Royal Family in our prayers at this time.

The Rt Rev’d Richard Jackson, Bishop of Hereford, Clerk of the Closet
