The next LYCiG training will take place in January 2026. As a diocese, we host regular LYCiG support groups with the aim of inspiring growth in churches across our diocese. Our Learning Community will bring together clergy and lay leaders from across the diocese to explore what healthy growth looks like in rural and multi-parish contexts, and how to build and lead healthy teams in those settings.
The focus is on encouraging local vocations, supporting recognisable leadership in every community, developing teams that share responsibility, and finding patterns of oversight that are life-giving rather than draining. The Learning Community offers a next step for those who want to move from “carrying it all” alone towards shared reflection and shared leadership.
LYCiG is a Christian organisation that equips church leaders and churches to grow.
LYCiG says: "For almost 25 years, we have been serving the local church across the country with a vision to encourage and equip churches to grow both numerically and spiritually. We run residential courses, provide training days and resources, as well as supporting dioceses in developing their own growth programmes. We help all kinds of churches, Catholic or Charismatic, Evangelical or Liberal, Rural or Urban, Big or Small."
Frequently asked questions
LYCiG is for parish clergy (SSM and stipendiary) who have oversight across one or more congregations, especially where team-working is emerging or needed in a parish or benefice setting.
The learning community meets for monthly gatherings, late morning, usually 11:00 am until 12:30 pm.
The LYCiG community employs a combination of input, conversation, reflection, and practical planning, grounded in the LYCiG approach and tailored to rural realities, with a particular emphasis on forming and sustaining healthy local teams.
Being part of the Learning Community is a commitment to being in relationship with others; to learning, failing and growing alongside one another; and to making space together to notice what God is already doing – especially through the teams and people already present.
