As Archdeacon of Ludlow, Rev’d Sam Hustwayte supports clergy and parishes across the Ludlow archdeaconry.
Sam grew up in Nottinghamshire in a regular church-going household, she explains her Christian faith began as a teenager through worship at her local Baptist Church. After studying at Birmingham Bible Institute, she went on a mission project to Brazil with her boyfriend Matt, who was to become her future husband. Upon returning to the UK, Sam found her way back to the Anglican Church, describing it as feeling "like home."
Sam spent time prior to ordination as a Church Youth and Children’s Minister in Kenilworth, Warwickshire and then took the post of Church Family Minister at Coventry Cathedral, before training for ordination at St John’s College, Nottingham. She was ordained at Southwell Minster at Petertide in July 2013 and continued to minister as curate and vicar in Southwell and Nottingham Diocese.
Sam is married to Matt, who works for CPAS (Church Pastoral Aid Society) and they have three grown-up children: Will, Amy, and Ollie.
Sam held a number of roles in Southwell and Nottingham diocese including working as diocesan senior vocations advisor where she helped people explore where God was leading them in ministry. She also held the post of Area Dean of Gedling and Chair of the House of Clergy, alongside being Chair of Governors at her local Church of England Primary School prior to her move to Hereford Diocese.
