    Come and join (and manage) an exciting and fascinating Christian initiative.

    We are creating a new rural mission team in glorious South West Herefordshire based in Peterchurch

    We are looking for someone to join the team and coordinate our approach as we embark on an innovative programme to share the Christian faith with people in Abbeydore Deanery.

    You will need to be a practising Christian with strong project management, communication and administration skills.

    Context

    Abbeydore Deanery is a deeply rural deanery in South West Herefordshire with a population of 12,000 looked after by 5 stipendiary clergy with 35 churches.A radical new initiative requiring the clergy to change the way they work and to become Rural Pioneer Priests concentrating on a particular focus of mission across the Deanery for at least 50% of their time will start in September 2018

    Summary of the role

    The key aim of the role is to support the Deanery Mission Team (clergy and lay) and release them to deliver the Mission Action Plan.

    Components:

    1. Work with the mission team for each of the five key areas (children & young people; the missing generation 21-50; long term residents; newcomers; those attending life event services;) to develop sector plans and to support their delivery of these plans and monitor the outcomes

    2. Act as a proactive communications hub for the deanery;

    a) Information from and to the diocese and to and from the parishes
    b) Managing the Deanery social media and website
    c) Promoting events around the deanery

    3. To provide administrative support by

    a) Managing the database for life events (Christenings, Marriages and Funerals) so that the data is available when required and meets GDPR requirements
    b) Proof reading and printing orders of service as required
    c) Coordinating the organisation of marriage preparation courses across the deanery
    d) Completing quarterly marriage returns to the Registrar
    e) Coordinating service rotas
    f) Coordinating training events eg leading worship and pastoral care for lay ministry development
    g) Vetting churchyard and memorial applications and fees
    h) Coordinate DBS checks for the deanery
    i) Processing clergy and other expenses
    j) Other support as required
