The Diocese of Hereford must remain synchronised with wider societal aims to reduce carbon emissions, and it is now undertaking to embed NZC principles in all aspects of Diocesan activity.
This is underpinned theologically by the Fifth Mark of Mission within the Anglican tradition.
Careful routine maintenance is a key driver for minimising emissions, and fabric improvements are made in line with this strategy. We also encourage you to participate in any government grant schemes to improve energy efficiency; these tend to require the occupant to apply directly. If you have ideas for efficiency that you would like to propose for your parsonage, please speak with the Diocesan Surveyor.
If your property has solar PV panels, you will personally benefit from running your main appliances during daylight hours. You are encouraged to proactively seek a green tariff and install a smart meter as part of living out your care for creation.
We encourage you to consider managing your garden for nature. This can also make it easier to maintain. For instance, using low care shrubs, some wild areas cut only a few times a year, and reducing the area of lawn needing regular care.
