#Live Lent 2020 - Care for God's creation

This Lent, the national Church of England campaign is encouraging us to all engage in “Care for God's Creation”. It is an opportunity for us to rebuild our relationship with our planet, and in turn with the God who is Lord of everything. With weekly themes shaped around the first Genesis account of creation, it explores the urgent need for humans to value and protect the abundance God has created.

Lent Services

Bishop Alistair invites you all to attend one of our four lent services this year that will be taking place at churches across our diocese.  They are an opportunity to come together in worship and prayer as we prepare to welcome our new Bishop Richard Jackson and his wife Deborah to our diocese.

On each day the eucharist will start at 11am, will include a period of extended prayer and will end by 1pm, with drinks available afterwards.

Separate booklets are available from Church House publishing for Adults and Children encouraging daily prayers, reflections and activities to follow throughout lent.

We have also created a diocesan prayer resource and a liturgical resource toolkit.

Posters are available from the Church of England website and a local poster and prayer book marks are available from our diocesan account on church print hub.

Special Follow! Prayer for Lent

O come, O Holy Spirit:

Come as holy fire and burn in us. We say Yes to Life.
Come as holy wind and cleanse us.
Come as holy light and lead us.
Come as holy truth and teach us.
Come as holy forgiveness and free us.
Come as holy love and enfold us.
Come as holy life and dwell in us.
May your blessing be on Richard and Deborah
and all their family,
as they move, as they settle,
as they start to serve among us,
so that all may know
the joy, the peace and the purpose
we find in following you
Jesus Christ our Lord.
