TOURISM RESOURCES FOR CHURCHES
‘Transit’ - the Tourism Newsletter
‘Transit’ is produced monthly and is distributed through the Clergy mailing and by email to a database of parish contacts and Church Tourism Groups. The newsletter includes a sample of events for the following month and provides Churches with information on how they can improve and develop their welcome to visitors and tourists. It highlights training opportunities and provides a platform for Churches to share best-practice. Churches are encouraged to submit articles on their tourism developments. The current edition of Transit is posted on the Noticeboard – For back-copies please contact the Tourism Officer.

Herefordshire Churches Tourism Group
The Herefordshire Churches Tourism Group is an ecumenical, self-help
group of people interested in the development and promotion of high quality
church tourism in Herefordshire. It is a member of the Church Tourism
Association.
The group offers members the opportunity to:
- Meet with others of similar interests
- Keep in touch with developments in tourism in Herefordshire
- Participate in joint marketing and promotional activities
- Benefit from joint-funding initiatives
- Play a part in the development of new initiatives and partnerships
Members can keep in touch through:
- The circulation of a newsletter
- Periodic meetings
- A programme of occasional speakers, workshops and visits.

Shropshire Churches Tourism Group
This new group has held two meetings with others scheduled for 2005 and early 2006, to enable churches to:
- Network between churches and share experiences
- Help and support to develop new ideas to welcome visitors
- Keep in touch with developments in tourism in Shropshire
- Workshops on many aspects of church tourism, and
- The development of themed trails between churches and parishes.
