INFORMATION FOR CHURCH VISITORS
The Diocese of Hereford covers some of the most beautiful, rural and quintessentially English and Welsh areas of the country.
The Tourism Project has compiled this page to assist those wishing to visit a Church in the Diocese of Hereford. The Diocese has over 420 Churches, the majority of which are open for visitors and are Graded. All have their own unique character and gems of interest.

Bredwardine. A Church located mid-way between Hereford and Hay-on-Wye. This is the Parish church of the well known Kilvert, and he is buried within the churchyard. The Church is positioned in a wonderfully scenic and peaceful setting. Visitors can take a self-guided tour of the Church, purchase souvenirs, find out about what else there is to see in the area (see below) and take a walk around the village (a tour leaflet of the village is available in the Church). The Church is adjacent to the Wye Valley Walk and Vaughn’s Way.

Acton Scott. Acton Scott Church is a small church nestled in the lee of the Shropshire hills. A Church has existed on this site since 1291, and the building was restored in the early C19th. From the grounds of the Church there is a wonderful panorama of the Long Mynd and Ragleth Hill. The position of the Church is idyllic and is a wonderful location for those who want to relax and enjoy peace and tranquility. The churchyard is abundant with snowdrops and crocus in the spring and attracts a wide variety of animal and birdlife. Bring your binoculars! The Church offers a special welcome to children for whom there is a special exploration quiz.
