The Chaplaincy amongst Deaf People was begun in 1996
The chaplain's work is also concerned in visiting at home
and hospital. She will be happy to sign for weddings, baptisms or funerals at
the invitation of the local priest conducting the service. Families should ask
their priest if they feel someone at the service would like to have a chaplain
in attendance.
The banner was designed and made by a variety of our members taking some part
of the work. it was blessed and dedicated by the Bishop John Oliver to celebrate
the third anniversary of our beginning worship together. the Dove represents the
Holy Spirit at the centre of our worship; the text reads "Jesus said I am
the Vine you are the Branches" - it is entwined by the Hop Vine (common to
Hereford) and the apple also represents local industry.
Deaf Direct issue a magazine each month which gives news of
any special events and our monthly services are advertised. The chaplain attends
a number of functions which are arranged by the charity Deaf Direct.
