What is the DYPP?
Since 1997 Hereford Diocese has been running a Youth Participation Project throughout the Diocese. The aims of the project are:
- To support young people aged 13-25, within the Diocese and particularly within the North Herefordshire /South Shropshire areas
- To encourage the development of young people's gifts/skills and to identify ways in which these can be used
- To encourage young people's participation within Church/the wider community
- To encourage opportunities for social inclusion at local/ Diocesan/national level
Who is it for?
All young people aged 13-25
What does it do?
During the past year we have:
- Sent out a regular mailing, 'Update', giving information about activities and events happening locally & nationally
- Held deanery youth events and youth participation workshops
- Taken part in Greenbelt, a national Christian Arts festival
- Encouraged/supported young people in volunteering roles
- Involved young people in Diocesan and Local Authority Interview panels for Youth workers
- Enabled young people to participate as observers in General Synod and Diocesan Synod
- Had young people as representatives on Diocesan Synod,Diocesan Board of Education, National Youth Council
What about the future?
Plans for 2007 include
- Café Omega
- Aims and objectives:
- The service will be aimed at churched young people in and around Hereford and advertised throughout the Diocese.
- Aiming to organise:
- Quarterly Youth service based in All Saints Church, Hereford
- Relevant worship and talks
- Link into local youth groups
- Discipleship for young people where appropriate.
