sign the declaration
Tens of thousands of ordinary people signed petitions as part of the campaign to abolish the Transatlantic Slave Trade. Today slavery affects millions of people around the world. By signing the Declaration you can be part of a new mass movement for change. We are collecting signatures to show support for the fight for freedom campaign.
To commemorate the Transatlantic Slave Trade and its abolition, address its legacies, and work for the eradication of all forms of slavery today please sign the declaration either at one of the host venues or by visiting the Anti-Slavery International website. www.antislavery.org
War on Want
cheap goods
Are we complicit in the “enslavement” of another human being because we choose to buy our goods at prices which are attractively low?
Workers in Bangladesh are regularly working 80 hours a week for just 5p an hour, in potential death trap factories, to produce cheap clothes for British consumers of leading chainstores. The charity War on Want’s report, Fashion Victims, is based on research among employees at six Bangladeshi factories in the capital Dhaka which employ over 5,000 workers, mainly women, making clothes for three big bargain retailers. To find out more about the work undertaken by War on Want visit their website: www.waronwant.org
