Report of the Bishop’s Council Vision Statement Working Party

Report of the Bishop’s Council Vision Statement Working Party January 2006

On 20 th October 2005 Hereford Diocesan Synod adopted a Vision Statement for the Diocese:

The Diocese of Hereford –

Seeks to share God's love in community and world through

  • Worshipping God and praying for His help and guidance
  • Caring for and serving people in all life's situations
  • Recognising and responding to the needs of our communities
  • Inspiring and learning through each other's strengths and gifts

So that in all our activities we show Jesus Christ to those around.

The purpose of the vision statement is primarily to be an expression of our purpose to external partners and organisations. The Bishop's Council appointed a small working party comprising Anni Holden (Diocesan Communications Officer), Lady Susan Darnley (Lay-member of Bishop's Council), Rev'd Preb Andy Robert s (Team Rector of Bridgnorth Team Ministry), and Rev'd Nick Read (Chaplain for Agriculture and Rural Life), to explore how well the Diocese was fulfilling its mission statement and to make recommendations about how we might fulfil it better.
