Exploring God's Call

'Vocation' or 'calling' is about every member of the church, not just those who feel God may be asking them to think about offering for a formal ministry role.

Many people are now members of Local Ministry groups and teams across the diocese, sharing leadership in their parishes with those who are ordained.
Others have discovered they have gifts in evangelism, pastoral care, children's and youth work. Then there are those God has called to be Readers, or to be ordained.

There are lots of opportunities to find out more and to serve.

If you would like to explore how God is calling you, a very good first step is to share how you are feeling with your parish priest.

There are other people who can help you too:

Who can help?

Deanery Vocations Advisers- Hereford Diocese has a great network of Deanery Vocations Advisers who work with both parish priests and our Diocesan Vocations Advisers - and also with Revd Mary-Lou Toop (the Diocesan Director of Ordinands) - to provide opportunities for individuals to share their exploration of God's calling with another supportive person. To contact a Deanery Vocations Adviser talk to your parish priest and discuss with them whether or not this may be useful for you.

Revd Pam Bickley is one of the Diocesan Vocations Advisers.
