Initial Ministerial Development 4-7 (POT Curate Training)
Initial Ministerial Develoment (IMD) is a partnership, looking to support and develop the ministry of newly ordained clergy (normally called curates) in the first three years after ordination. It forms a bridge between initial training, whether on a course or at a college, and the rest of the Diocese's programme of Continuing Ministerial Development. It looks to equip curates to provide the ordained ministry needed to implement the strategic vision of the Diocese for the future of the Church, in accordance with the national Learning Outcomes given by the House of Bishops for this stage of ministry.
It is for all curates who are in their first three years after ordination, whether full-time stipendiary (paid) or part-time or unpaid.
IMD is a three-way partnership between the local church(es) where the curate serves, the curate and the Diocese, and is a partnership where each party both gives and receives. It comes in two parts. There is a separate programme for curates in each of their first three years, looking at matters relevant to that stage of ministry. There is also a three-year rolling programme for the whole group together, including an annual residential conference.
