Leominster Deanery Pastoral Plan 2010

It shall be the responsibility of the Deanery Pastoral Committee from time to time, as requested by the Bishop, Diocesan Pastoral Committee, Archidiaconal Pastoral Sub-Committee or Deanery Synod to review the arrangements for pastoral supervision in the Deanery, or any part thereof, and to report and, in cases where they consider it desirable, to make recommendations to the Deanery Synod.

The Committee will be consulted by the Archdeacon with respect to the number and deployment of Local Ministry Teams in accordance with Guidelines issues by the Diocesan Synod for implementation of the Local Ministry Scheme.

  • The Deanery Synod shall appoint a Chairman who, at the time of his/her appointment, need not be a member of the Committee but must be a member of the Deanery Synod;
  • The Rural Dean and Lay Co-Chairman shall be ex-officio members of the Committee
  • The remaining members of the Committee shall be appointed or elected in such manner as the Deanery Synod may determine, but so as to secure that there should be at least one member, and not more than two members from each group of Parishes in the Deanery, of whom one must be a member of the Laity;
  • Members of the Committee shall hold office until the dissolution of the Deanery Synod; Appointments and elections to the Deanery Pastoral Committee shall be made at the second meeting of the newly-elected Deanery Synod or as soon as possible thereafter;
  • Members shall be eligible for re-appointment on the termination of any period of office;
  • Not less than one third of the members of the Committee shall form a quorum;
  • The Committee may act notwithstanding any vacancy in their membership;
  • Every question submitted to a meeting of the Committee shall be decided by a majority of those present and voting, and the Chairman of the meeting shall have a second or casting vote in the case of an equality of votes;
  • The Committee shall meet as business dictates, but not less than twice each year. Subject to the foregoing provisions and to any directions given by the Deanery Synod, the Committee shall have power to regulate its own procedure
