Bromyard Deanery
The Bromyard Deanery is set in the East of the Diocese of Hereford. There are 24 parishes divided into 4 Benefices each served by a Stipendiary Priest. The 4 Benefices are: Bromyard and Stoke Lacy, The Frome Valley Group of Parishes, The Bredenbury Benefice and The Parish of Greater Whitbourne.

The small Herefordshire market town of Bromyard is at the centre of the deanery. Bromyard has been described as the "Jewel in the Downs" because it rests in the valley below the beautiful Bromyard Downs a place of fantastic views, brilliant for walking and rich with Flora and fauna. It is also the town of little festivals ranging from the Spring Festival when Town Criers come from all over the through the summer Scarecrow Festival to the Bromyard Folk Festival. Bromyard also has a enormous Steam Gala at the beginning of July each year.

In the year 2005 the Deanery Synod decided to re-order the deanery for mission and ministry. Four new parish groupings were formed into units that were believed to be the best fit for a missionary deanery. A vast amount
of information was collected, collated and analysed to discover which parishes would naturally work together well. Questions were asked such as "How, given our limited resources, can we best serve the people of the deanery in terms of mission and ministry?"; "Historically where have people looked for their secular partnerships?"; "Where do children from a given parish go to school?"; "Where do people from a given parish go shopping, to the Doctors or the Dentist.?" and "What is a reasonable pastoral load for a Stipendiary Minister given the population in a group of parishes, the number of Schools, Hospitals and Residential Care Homes?" Many other questions were asked before the present Deanery Plan for Mission and Ministry was put forward. All PCCs were asked to pass a resolution indicating their support for the scheme which finally came into being on 31st December 2008.
