Abbeydore Deanery

Our Deanery in the Archdeaconry of Hereford lies to the south-west of Hereford. It stretches west to the Black Mountains on the Welsh border. It includes the beautiful Golden Valley from the north-west to the south-east of the Deanery, through which meanders the River Dore. This flows past Dore Abbey in Abbeydore parish, from which the Deanery takes its name. Abbeydore is the site of one of oldest religious foundations within our boundaries, and the Abbey is the only Cistercian building in the country to have become a parish church.

The groups of parishes (benefices) in the Deanery and their incumbents are as follows:-

Borderlink - Revd Anand Sodadasi, Rector at Cusop near Hay-on-Wye
Cusop with Blakemere, Bredwardine with Brobury, Clifford, Dorstone, Hardwicke, Moccas and Preston-on-Wye.
Clodock & Longtown - Revd Nicholas Lowton, Vicar, at Craswall
Clodock & Longtown with Craswall, Llanveynoe, St Margaret's, Michaelchurch Escley and Newton.
Ewyas Harold - Revd Ashley Evans, Priest-in-Charge, at Ewyas Harold
Ewyas Harold & Dulas, with Kenderchurch, Abbeydore, Bacton, Kentchurch, Llangua, Rowlestone & Llancillo, Walterstone, Kilpeck, St Devereux and Wormbridge.
Cagebrook - Revd Clare Dyson, Rector, at Kingstone)
Kingstone with Clehonger, Eaton Bishop, Allensmore and Thruxton.
Wye-Dore (Revd Simon Lockett, Vicar, at Madley)
Madley with Tyberton, Peterchurch, Vowchurch and Turnastone.

The Rural Dean is currently Revd Ashley Evans (Ewyas Harold).
