DIOCESAN SYNOD

The ex-officio members of Diocesan Synod are the Bishop,the Suffragan Bishop, the Dean, the Archdeacons, clergy members of General Synod, the Chairmen of the Boards of Finance and Education and of the DAC and the Chancellor of the Diocese; and the lay members of General Synod. The other members are elected by deanery synods, with up to 10 members nominated by the Bishop and a few places available for co-option. Elections take place every 3 years. Synod considers matters relating to the diocese and to the Church of England, including matters referred to it by the Bishop or by General Synod.

GENERAL SYNOD

Each diocese is represented in General Synod by the diocesan Bishop and by the Archdeacon. Other clergy representatives are elected by the licensed clergy of the diocese. Lay representatives are elected by deanery synod members.

Bishop's Council Communications Working Group

In September 2010 the Bishop's Council established a Working Group to examine communications in Hereford Diocese and to make recommendations for improvement.

A summary of the interim recommendations was produced in January 2011, followed by the second stage report in April 2011.
