THE BISHOP'S OFFICE
The Bishop's Office is situated in the Palace, alongside the Diocesan Office. The main task of a Bishop is to look after and care for the clergy, who serve the Church in the parishes, and support staff who serve the Diocese in other ways.
THE BISHOP OF HEREFORD
We are very pleased that the Rt Revd Richard Frith has been announced as the 105th Bishop of Hereford. The page entitled "The Bishop of Hereford - next steps" lets you know the process from hereon and we very much hope that it may be possible to install Bishop Richard as the next Bishop of Hereford in our Cathedral towards the end of November.
In the meantime, please pray for Bishop Richard and his wife Kay as they prepare to pull up their roots from Hull and that they will settle quickly and happily and feel welcomed into our diocese.
Please also pray for Bishop Alistair as he continues to serve the diocese as Commissary Bishop during the vacancy and for the Revd Prebendary Michael Whittock who is assisting with the archidiaconal work.
The Bishop of Hereford's Office is staffed by a full time Personal Assistant, Julie Milne, his Secretary, Susan Lawson and his Administrative Assistant (position currently vacant). They support the Bishop in the day-to-day work of running the office, dealing with correspondence, organising his diary, responding to queries, welcoming visitors and holding the fort when he is away from his office, in the Diocese or elsewhere.
The Church of England is here to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. It is the Bishop's job and privilege to lead the Diocese of Hereford in proclaiming this message, and in ministering to all who live within the Diocese. He is therefore very much involved in all aspects of the life of the communities including Education, Agriculture and in working with Voluntary and Statutory Agencies.
