The Bishop's Office is situated in the Palace, alongside the Diocesan Office. The main task of a Bishop is to look after and care for the clergy, who serve the Church in the parishes, and support staff who serve the Diocese in other ways.

The Rt Revd Richard Frith was installed as the 105th Bishop of Hereford on 22nd November 2014 in Hereford Cathedral.

The Bishop has been travelling to the thirteen deaneries of the diocese to meet all clergy individually, stipendiary and self-supporting, in their own homes, to talk with them about their ministry. He wants to visit as many parishes as possible to conduct church services and to be able to meet with a variety of people inside and outside the church.

He has also been out and about meeting with members of rural communities, as well as with the Members of Parliament in the diocese. He has also visited schools, farms, food banks and credit unions.

Bishop Richard and his wife Kay are settling very happily into their new life in Hereford and enjoying walks in the countryside and having their children and grandchildren to stay with them.

The Bishop of Hereford's Office is staffed by a full time Personal Assistant, Julie Milne, his Secretary, Susan Lawson . They support the Bishop in the day-to-day work of running the office, dealing with correspondence, organising his diary, responding to queries, welcoming visitors and holding the fort when he is away from his office, in the Diocese or elsewhere.

The Church of England is here to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. It is the Bishop's job and privilege to lead the Diocese of Hereford in proclaiming this message, and in ministering to all who live within the Diocese. He is therefore very much involved in all aspects of the life of the communities including Education, Agriculture and in working with Voluntary and Statutory Agencies.
