HEREFORD DIOCESAN LINKS WITH TANZANIA
The Hereford Diocese has companion links with 4 of the 22 Anglican Dioceses in Tanzania - Dar es Salaam, Masasi, Newala and Tanga. Also an informal friendship link with the Diocese of Zanzibar.
The Bishops of the four linked dioceses are ++Valentino Mokiwa, Dar es Salaam; +Patrick Mwachiko, Masasi; + Bishop Oscar Mnun'ga, Newala; +, Tanga.
On 4th September in Korogwe, Canon Maimbo W.F.Mndolwa was consecrated and installed as the second Bishop of Tanga. Our prayers are with him at this time. Read the report of his consecration on the Visits Page.
The Bishop of Dar es Salaam, Valentino Mokiwa, is also the Archbishop of the Anglican Province of Tanzania.
Bishop Anthony Priddis, Bishop of Hereford, visited the Diocesan links in Tanzania in August 2006 and 2010

ST MARK'S THEOLOGICAL COLLEGE IN DAR ES SALAAM
Hereford Cathedral; Clun Forest, Ludlow, Kington & Weobley, and Pontesbury Deaneries; Breinton Parish, Hereford South Wye Team Ministry, St Nicholas Parish in Hereford and St Weonards Parishes sponsor 12 students for ordination training.
One of the greatest needs for the church in Tanzania is for well trained clergy. Sponsorship of students at St Mark's brings three important benefits:
1. For their Dioceses which have great difficulty in finding the money for students to be trained at St Mark's.
2. For St Mark's College to know that the fees for sponsored students will definitely be paid.
3. For Students and Sponsors through personal linking and regular communication.
The Centenary of St Mark's College was celebrated on St Mark's Day, Sunday 25th April 2004.
St Mark's College became a University College in 2009 when it was affiliated to St John's Anglican University in Dodoma.
