HOT FOOD ROTA FOR THE HOMELESS
A comprehensive rota of hot food is being provided by the Churches in Hereford Diocese Action Team (CHAT). The rota ensures that at least one hot meal is available nearly every day of the week for those who are homeless, hungry or socially isolated.
COMMUNITY LARDER / FOOD BANKS
Thanks to all those Churches and Schools that responded to the recent Advent Appeal for the Community Larders in Herefordshire, which provide bags of food to those in urgent need. The response was excellent and enabled us to provide good Christmas hampers for families at this special time of year. We have now launched the Winter Appeal and still need tins of meat and potatoes, tins of rice pudding and custard, jars of coffee and packets of dried mil and sugar.
Bertie Bear would like to say a very special "thank you" to all those schools in Herefordshire and South Shropshire which have given tins of food to help his harvest appeal for the Larders. He thinks the pupils have been brilliant! He has written this letter to all the schools.
WINTER 2012 APPEAL An appeal to Churches to provide urgently needed items of food has now been launched. Please encourage your church, school or work place to take part. Every week Emergency Food Parcels are being supplied to families who are in serious and sudden hardship. Demand for food parcels is growing significantly. Please use the poster or contact j.boys@hereford.anglican.org
EVENTS
In this section we will post information about forthcoming events which may be of interest to you. They will sometimes be events we are organising within the CSR Team, or they be part of the work of other organisations. But, whoever is putting on the event, the subject matter will always be close to the heart of CSR and the work we undertake.
PUBLICATIONS
Communication is one of the key roles of the Council for Social Responsibility so that those within the Diocese and others are aware of the social issues with which the Church in the Hereford Diocese is involved.
The CSR produces a monthly briefing paper called Scooter, which is for clergy, parishes and the wider community. It is also a useful insert for parish magazines. If you would like to be on the Scooter e-mailing list, then email your details to j.boys@hereford.anglican.org, to ensure your name is added to the database.
The CSR has also produced a number of publications supporting its work in the Diocese. To download any of these use the links below, or if you would prefer a hard copy these are available from the CSR office for a nominal cost of £3. Please send your cheque, made payable to Hereford DBF, and a mailing address to the Council for Social Responsibility, The Gateway Office, The Palace, Hereford, HR4 9BL.
